Essentials of Immediate Care
This text gives guidance on the response to emergency situations and the treatment of patients during the time up to hospital admission.
The information is presented in a visual way for ease of use. The book has its origins in courses run by the author for the British Association of Immediate Care (BASICS), but this edition has also been made more appealing for paramedics. It covers basic anatomy and physiology where it is vital for the successful understanding of emergency procedures.
It also includes chapters on psychiatric emergencies and the mechanism of injury and a separate section on the pregnant patient and paediatric emergencies.
